Now more than ever is great time to get a bit creative about how you derive income.
Sometimes the answer to your financial woes really is that you just need to earn more money. With apps like freelancer and Airtasker, now is the time to get your side hustle on. Maybe you would like a holiday or have some debt that you need to pay down quickly.
Taking on some extra work for a short period of time can help you get ahead or reach your goals sooner.
Recently I have had a few expenses for the house brought forward, whilst we have a well established buffer account to pay for these sort of things, I was reluctant to part with our savings.
So instead we did a massive clean out of the house, we found there were several items that could be sold and a lot more that we didn’t need that could be given to charity. Over the past few months of being persistent and selling things we no longer used or need, we accrued approximately $2,000 which greatly reduced how much we had to dip into our buffer account.
I feel so much better about spending the money on the house, now that our savings haven’t taken a huge hit and have the added bonus of de-cluttering our house.
Selling off your possessions or working extra hours, is unlikely to be a long term solution for you and does take extra effort, time and energy but it can really help with unexpected/short term expenses and or getting that holiday you crave but know you can’t quite afford yet.
